AIPG Summary

The American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) was founded in 1963 to certify the credentials of practicing geologists and to advocate on behalf of the geologic profession. The science of geology is vital to the interests of the nation and in order to best protect public health, safety, welfare, and the environment. AIPG is an organization of qualified geologists dedicated to this mission.

The Minnesota Section of AIPG advocates professional certification, professional licensure, continuing education, and geoscience education.

New Opportunity - SAFETY TRAINING/HAZWOPER SCHOLARSHIP!

An annual sponsor of the Minnesota Section of AIPG, Bay West, is offering scholarships for Minnesota geoscience students to their 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) training!  More information can be found here.

What we do

Technical Talks

Technical Talks: The Minnesota Section of AIPG holds technical talks September through May, generally the first Tuesday of the month. The talks are designed to fulfill 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH). Professional Geologists, as licensed in the State of Minnesota, are required to complete 24 PDHs every biennium licensing period, including 2 PDHs of ethics.  Talks feature important subjects of interest to professional geologists. Members and non-members are encouraged to attend by registering online.

*We began webcasting our technical talks in January 2020. We are testing this service through May by offering viewers free access. Please contact us if you would like to help us test the service!

Meeting Topics: We are always looking for engaging speakers and topics. Please contact AIPG MN Section Vice President, Alexandra Blel, with your suggestions.

Please consider becoming a Section Sponsor to help us continue to be able to offer low cost monthly meetings to all.

If you would like to become a Minnesota Section Sponsor or have questions about the sponsorship, please contact Paula Berger.

You can order your 2020 Section Sponsorship on our website here! You are welcome to mail in your sponsorship check instead (contact Jeff Neisse, AIPG MN Section Treasurer for mailing address).
